N.B. I am currently working as a palliative health care assistant at Princess Alice Hospice in
Esher in SW London just 22 miles away from Thames Hospice: During
handover yesterday one of the palliative care nurses told us about
her checking in with her 7 year old daughter Tara after school pick
up:
How was your day at school Tara?
'Mummy my friend Sophie was on her own crying in the playground so I went up to
comfort her.'
Well done - that was a lovely thing to do Tara: Did you find out why Sophie was crying?
' Yes mummy, Sophie was crying because her Aunty has just died. But I didn't tell her the
joke mummy'
